Anyone who has ever attended a VDLT event knows, there ain’t nothin’ like em. Friday evening at Trattoria L’Incontro in Astoria Queens was no exception. Forty revelers (members and their guests) enjoyed non-stop fun, great food (the porcini risotto seems to have been dish of the night by a nose) and wonderful wines as VDLT hosted the first formal coming out party for our Italian portfolio.
The occasion was enhanced by Chief’s introduction of Gregory Dal Piaz and his collaboration with VDLT. Greg, one of this country’s most respected experts on Italian wines, has selected some remarkable Chianti and Barolo wines to offer through VDLT (having more than met our standards of excellence and distinction). The Chianti selections should be on pre-arrival offer very soon. Don’t miss them!

Chef Rocco and the staff of L’Incontro did a great job. The food was consistently outstanding and service was attentive and professional.
The crowd had nothing but raves for the wines. Dubois’ beautiful 2011 Blanc de Blancs ushered in Ugo’s Arneis and La Colombera’s Timorasso. Sangiovese was masterfully represented by 2012 Vino Nobile from Innocenti and Caparsino Chianti Classico Riserva 2011. We ended with two 2012 Barolo from Serralunga - Anselma Riserva Felice and Osvaldo Viberti. A great lineup!
